Butterflied Portraits: Paintings For Jonas
I discovered the butterfly symbol after my twelve week stay
on the maternity floor in a hospital. During
the first couple weeks we began to notice that every now
and then there would be a butterfly taped on a maternity
patient's door. Then one day the
butterfly appeared on the door beside mine. Finally, I
asked my nurse what it meant. We were saddened to hear
the butterfly was used to
represent the loss of an infant. A few weeks later, a
butterfly was placed on my door. Butterflied Portraits are
created in memory of our Jonas.
Each portrait represents a family or woman affected by
infant loss or miscarriage.
